Andrea Touché is a multimedia artist from Monterrey, Mexico, living in Chicago. Since childhood, she has been driven to showcase her distinct vision of beauty through her art. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from the University of Monterrey in 2016, followed by her studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston) in 2023. After completing her education, Touché ventured into the art scene, producing hand-knitted wire sculptures and paintings. Her work explores the meaning of happiness and its true value in life. Using wire as her primary material, she utilizes hand-knitting techniques to transform ordinary moments into dreamlike sculptures. Her journey started in childhood during family gatherings, where her aunts and cousins would chat and weave together. In these moments, she learned to handle thread and a needle, laying the groundwork for her creative practice. In her teenage years, driven by a new challenge, she began experimenting with wire, which ignited her passion for this craft. Over time, she has honed her techniques to create sculptures, highlighting wire as the primary material. Attracted by the duality of wire, which is delicate yet strong and rigid when woven, Touché aims to encapsulate a moment in time with every knot, documenting growth. For her, wire represents life’s journey, demonstrating how experiences mold our identities into who we are today.
